An ongoing material research project exploring the ceramic potential of unwanted plant matter. Pruning waste, wild plants and other discarded vegetation are collected and transformed into ash to develop ceramic glazes, in combination with locally sourced clays and soils.
Through processes of collection, transformation, formulation and firing, the project investigates how the material composition of a particular landscape can be translated into ceramic surfaces. Rather than treating these materials simply as waste, the research considers them as situated resources, capable of revealing relationships between ceramic practice and local ecologies.
